Goalkeeper Basic Pass Connection Training

The goalkeeper have to securely own the ball to build-up.

Today, I will introduce the way the goalkeeper safely receives the ball from the defender, how to own it, and the basic training method to pass it to the defender.

* How to connect the goalkeeper and defender.

-The goalkeeper should not approach the defender to get a pass.

-When the goalkeeper approach the defender, the distance from the attacker is also close.

-If the defender passes under pressure to the goalkeeper, the opponent's approach to the defender will put pressure on the goalkeeper.

-In this case, even a slight mistake of control can be a big threat
 to the goalkeeper.

1. The goalkeeper asks a ball to defender in front of the near goal post.
2. When the defender passes the ball, the goalkeeper quickly approaches the ball and
    controls the ball.
  - If the striker is too close to approach, the goalkeeper send the ball to the side (high and long).
  - If the attacker is not approaching, control the ball.
3. The goalkeeper takes a position to kick or pass when the he own the ball.
4. The defender moves to a position where he can be received the ball.

*The goalkeeper should not move on the side to get the ball.(Especially when the defender passes in the center).
 - If the defender makes pressure on the opponent, he may not be able to see the goalkeeper.
 - If the defenderr's pass is not the goalkeeper's move, the ball may not become difficult to handle
   if the opponent approaches.
 - The defender have mot to pass toward the goal. If the goalkeeper moves to the side already,
or if the control is wrong, may loose goal.

1. The goalkeeper uses his hand to tell the defender the direction of the pass.
   - The goalkeeper should not say right or left. Because if goalkeeper and defender face each other,
the right of the goalkeeper side can be mistaken for a moment because it is defender's left side.
2. When the defender passes, the goalkeeper controls the ball in the opposite direction as the
    opponent's attacker.
3. The goalkeeper is in a position to kick or pass as soon as he control the ball.
4. The goalkeeper pass to a defender who is not under pressure.
    - If the striker is too close to approach, the goalkeeper send the ball to the side (high and long).

The basic control of the goalkeeper.
-The goalkeeper have to have habit always controlling the ball 45 degrees left and right.
- If the goalkeeper control 45 degrees, goalkeeper will be in a position to kick right away
and it is easy to kick the ball when the opponent approach.(black line)
- The goalkeeper have not to control the ball in the frontal direction.
In this case, the approach distance of the attacker is short and it is not easy to kick(red line).

Goalkeeper ball control training.

1. Place two cones at 2m intervals.
2. The goalkeeper stands 2m behind the cone.
3. The coach takes the ball in front of the cone 10m.
4. The coach passes the ball through the cones, and the goalkeeper moves the ball forward,
controlling the ball to the left and right and passes it to the coach.(don't touch the cones)
5. The coach passes slowly at first and passes the ball stronger and stronger as the goalkeeper
    gets used to it.

Goalkeeper ball control and pass training.

1. The two defenders are on the side as shown in the picture, and one player takes  the ball.
2. The goalkeeper asks the ball to stand in the nearest goal post.
3. The defender passes the ball near the goalkeeper's goal line.
4. The goalkeeper moves sideways to control the ball and pass it to the defender on the other side.
 * The goalkeeper is a distance from the defender, so he passes the ball strong.
 * If the pass is slow, the opponent has time to approach the defender, so the goalkeeper is
in the habit of making the pass stronger.
