2016 COPA goal analysis and prepare long shot

This is the goal by long shot of the match between Paraguay and Colombia.

You look at the pictures and find out the reason for the lost goal.
It is an attacker's shooting area, 25m in distance and little off the front.

If you look at the position of the goalkeeper is in aheadt of the basic position.

The ball passes over the goalkeeper's head, but can not be handled by hand.

The gap between the goalkeeper's hand and the ball is wide.

Eventually,  he only just jumped and lost goal.

At the world competitions, the goals by long shooting was about 10%.
Most of the cause of lost goals by long shooting are positioning and set position wrong.

In the COPA competition, only two goals are lost by long shooting. (except direct free kick)

How to prepare
The first is accurate positioning.
You should not leave the basic position.( the red line below)

The goalkeeper come forward to reduce the left and right angle.
However, when the goalkeeper comes forward and positions himself, there is a space between goalkeeper and goal.
This space is not problem at close shooting like below.

A ball coming from a long distance can come over the head of the goalkeeper and enter the goal.

Second is set position.
Long shooting has time for the ball to come, so the goalkeeper should make the stance equal to the shoulder width and high set position.
The goalkeeper should never lower his set position and take a with stance.

I will speak again
Positioning and set position are most basic but also most important.

It is important to recognize your position and set position according to the shooting
distance through basic training as below.
I hope you will get used to your body with plenty of practice.

Goalkeepers who are well - versed in basic skills do not easy lost goal.

2016 COPA GOAL ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION

This is the goal scene of the match between Mexico and Uruguay.

First of all, please look at the pictures and find out the cause of the goal.

Before the cross

During cross

The defender competing 1

The defender competing 2

Goal

Do you see a problem before the cross??
The position of the goalkeeper was far from the goal.
At the moment of crossing, the ball came near the center of the goal area,
but the goalkeeper did not interfere.

Do you see a problem after the cross??
The moment a attacker and powerful to compete the defender headed just lose the balance.
The goalkeeper was unable to stop and find the position himself as the player headed.

I f you are a goalkeeper, where would you be before the cross?
Choiceof fore images below!!

1.Position near the center and goal

2. The position in the center of the goal area and the goal.

3.The position slightly forward from the center.

4. The position slightly backward from the center.

Image 1: It is the most basic position when crossing from the position of figure 1 above.
Image 2 : It is the position when crossing from the position of figure 2 above.
Image 3 : If the opponent attackers only on the from side in figure 3 above.
Image 4 : If the opponent attackers only on the back side in figure 3 above.

The correct answer is two.

The area where the goalkeeper  deal with the cross of the attacker is wide and easy to withdraw back and to prevent shooting.

SOLUTION
The goalkeeper should be place in position 2 and deal with the cross.
The defender should not be distracted from compete with attacker.
The goalkeeper must not move when the player headed.
The goalkeeper take  a set position when the player headed.

The goalkeeper should be prepared not to worry if the defender kick or
head the ball within thepenalty area.
Sometimes defenders are mistakenly handled and come to the goal.

2016 EURO GOAL ANALYSIS AND SOLUTION

Dealing with the cross

Before the cross
- The goalkeeper takes his position according to the opponent and foot of the crossing attacker.
- The goalkeeper looks around and checks the position of the attacker and defender.
- The goalkeeper directs the defender to mark the attacker.

After the cross
- The goalkeeper checks the height and direction of the ball (never predicts and move)
- The goalkeeper decides whether to wait or move to see the ball height and direction.
- When the goalkeeper goes out, he informs the player of his action in a loud voice.
- The goalkeeper decides whether to catch or punch the ball.

I fthe goalkeeper catch the ball, quickly moves the crossing in the opposite direction to find teammate and send the ball.
If the goalkeeper is punching the ball, move quickly to the goal while looking at the ball to position and set position.

Defender role
before the cross
The defenders always check their opponent's attackers and keep them in front of their eyes.

Crossing
the defenders block the opponent to prevent the opponent from competing with the goalkeeper, so the goalkeeper can handle the ball safely.

After the cross
the defenders move quickly and are ready to receive the ball from the goalkeeper.

THE PHOTO OF GOAL

Problem before crossing
  1. The goalkeeper watched only the front and did not look around.
  2. The central defender was in front of the attacker and did not interfere the attacker’s movement

Solution
  1. The goalkeeper takes a 45 degree set position and checks the defender’s and attacker’s movement.
  2. The goalkeeper directs the defenders to mark the attackers.
  3. The defenders must mark the opponent’s attacker in front of them.

Problems after crossing
  1. The goalkeeper was unable to catch the ball inability because of the attacker’s interference.
  2. The central defenders were unable to interfere with the attacker, allowing the attacker to freely compete with the goalkeeper.

Solution
  1. The defender must interfere with the attacker’s inability to compete with the goalkeeper.
  2. If the goalkeeper competes with the attacker, the punching will be done safely in case of unsafe situation.

Recognizing and training  these basic things is a way to reduce the lost goals in the real game.
